About

Hi, I’m Zoe James, a Warwickshire-based freelance editor. I edit fiction and non-fiction books, academic papers, magazines and articles. Specialist areas include natural history, foraging, ecology, climate, education and fiction. I also develop the odd website (e.g. bodytomindtherapy.co.uk) and write articles, book reviews, stories and podcasts.

My training includes an MLitt in Creative Writing (distinction) at The University of Glasgow, and the Copy-Editing Headway course run by the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP).

I choose work based on what feels worthwhile and a good fit. I offer copy-editing, structural/developmental editing, and manuscript feedback/critique. I love to collaborate.

I quote based on minimum CIEP standard rates (one hour often equates to around 1,000 words), but also sometimes work on a voluntary/part-voluntary basis for projects for the common good.
